Pastor's Message You may have seen red, white and blue signs here and there that say "the Episcopal Church Welcomes You". The shield at the top of this page is on the signs. Meade Memorial Episcopal Church in White Post tries to make that saying come true by being hospitable to all - from newcomers to old timers and all in between - and beyond. Even if you haven't been to church for a long time and think you've burned some bridges that might make it hard to come back - you are still welcome! We believe and teach the "you" in "The Episcopal Church Welcomes You" means everyone. Everyone is welcomed by God:
That's good news for everyone! Everyone, all of us. As Saint Paul says, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) And again: "While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) Believing that makes it possible for us to take on the tasks of being hospitable to everyone, of being generous, of caring for God's beloved creation. We couldn't do it on our own. No one could. But we're not expected to. "With men it is impossible, but with God all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26) We are all called to share the Gospel with everyone, while being sure to include ourselves in the company of those needing the Good News. In the 15th Chapter of John's Gospel, Jesus tells us, you and me, to love one another as He has loved us and calls us his friends if we keep his commandment. We are all - everyone - invited to join Jesus' family business, which is all about love, for God is love. (1 John 4:8) Amen! So be it! Amen! Pastor Charles Kettlewell
